Macy’s Gears Up For the Holidays

Growing up some of my best memories revolve around Macy’s Department Store at Herald Square. I have spent many weekends with my mom and younger sister shopping, Some of the first pictures I have of myself is visiting Santa there. It has been an integral part of my life. This year I am sad that I will not get to see the gorgeous holiday windows. I have been excited that Macy’s sent me images of the windows and information about holiday events to share with my readers. I hope seeing these windows will be bringing some joy to your lives.

MACY’S FAMED HOLIDAY WINDOWS CELEBRATE THE MAGIC OF BELIEF WITH “TIPTOE”

Macy’s Herald Square’s iconic animated holiday windows introduce Tiptoe, one of Santa’s reindeer recruits who with the help of her friends learn the importance of believing in herself.

Macy’s Herald Square, New York City’s premier destination for holiday magic will once again ignite the imagination and bring the spirit of the season to New Yorkers and visitors with its famed animated holiday windows. It opened Thursday, November 18, the Macy’s iconic Broadway windows will feature the story of Tiptoe, a bright-eyed reindeer on the verge of realizing her ultimate dream, to join Santa’s sleigh team and deliver magic around the world on Christmas Eve.

“Macy’s Herald Square is the home for holiday magic and our iconic Broadway windows have for more than 100 years showcased animated wonders that inspire and delight,” said Manuel Urquizo, National Director of Visual Campaigns and Windows for Macy’s. “With Tiptoe, we have created a whimsical story highlighting the important power of belief and the joy and wonder of the season.”

The journey begins with the introduction of Tiptoe, a loveable reindeer recruit who sits and daydreams of joining Santa’s crew. She goes to flight school each day and studies each night, as she chases her dream to fly high. But her confidence is low, and she fears that she’ll never soar. So, her friends come to the rescue. With a little ingenuity, rope, and friendly birds at the helm, Tiptoe takes flight soaring with pure delight. When the rope starts untying, our courageous Tiptoe keeps flying. Thanks to the cheers of her friends below. And with that, Tiptoe’s Christmas dreams come true as she joins Santa on his magical adventure, reminding everyone to BELIEVE.

As the first department store to feature whimsical Christmas window displays that have enchanted generations of spectators, Macy’s world-renowned Holiday Windows will once again enthrall and entertain. Since 1874, Macy’s has created a window wonderland filled with dazzling displays that bring the spirit of the season to life in an animated fashion. The joyful Tiptoe animated windows will be on display at Macy’s flagship store through Saturday, January 1, 2022.

IT’S TIME TO BE MERRY AT MACY’S THIS HOLIDAY SEASON

Santa Claus returns for in-person visits at Macy’s Santaland® in Chicago, New York, and San Francisco by reservation, while an all-new digital experience launches to allow kids of all ages to experience the magic from home via macys.com/Santaland

“Macy’s is the destination for holiday magic. For more than 160 years, Macy’s has enthralled generations with celebrations welcoming the holiday season. From a visit with the one-and-only Santa Claus to Macy’s Great Tree, animated windows, and more, we are thrilled to bring the spirit of the season back to communities nationwide,” said Will Coss, Macy’s vice president of Branded Entertainment. “We are particularly overjoyed for the return of in-person visits with Santa Claus at Macy’s Santaland in Chicago, New York, and San Francisco. With the health and safety of our staff and guests as our top priority, a team of dedicated elves has taken several steps to produce an experience that is fun, whimsical, and one that will create cherished memories long past the season.”

An enchanted world showcasing Santa’s Village and Worskshop, Macy’s Santaland, will open for in-store visits at Macy’s on State Street in Chicago on Saturday, November 6, and at Macy’s Herald Square in New York and Union Square in San Francisco on Friday, November 26. To provide all guests with a safe and enjoyable environment, visits to the winter wonderland will be conducted by advance reservation only. To reserve a special visit with Santa Claus, guests should visit macys.com/Santaland. Reservations will open five days in advance of the desired visit date to allow for the most access possible to guests wishing to attend in person. Each day reservations will open at 5:30 a.m. local time and will showcase the open reservation slots for five days later (for example, reservations for December 16 will open on December 11 at 5:30 a.m. local time).

Virtual Cheer! Macy’s Santaland at Home

An all-new immersive digital experience awaits kids everywhere when they virtually visit Santa’s Workshop via Macy’s Santaland at Home. Available at macys.com/Santaland, an interactive digital journey awaits as Santaland’s elves lead the way through Santa’s Village and Workshop, stopping to see the sights and to play interactive games. At the finale of the experience, kids will meet Santa through an interactive video where they will be able to share their holiday wish list followed by the creation of a special Santa selfie. At the conclusion of the experience, families will be able to download their commemorative photos. Free to all, Macy’s Santaland at Home will be available from Friday, November 26 through Friday, December 24. To access the site, a supervising adult must create an account, provide the appropriate permissions to activate the program including approving access to the hardware for the interactive elements and selecting their preferred Santa experience.

Santa’s Social Calendar

Throughout the month of December, kids can engage with Santa live on social media. His online social calendar on macys.com/Santaland will detail when his “Cookies & Milk with Santa” live events will take place.
